  65. My great-uncle was a railroad telegrapher, and they taught him to
  66. write left-handed, so he could send with his right.

  68. I've been considering trying to learn to use a paddle left-handed, so
  69. that I can keep a pencil in my right.  Any opinions on this?
  70. I haven't learned to use a paddle yet.  I'm still working on copying
  71. 13wpm.

  88. I am a right-hander who learned on a left-handed bug.  (!)  To this day,
  89. I can send with bug or keyer with either hand.
  90.  
  91. But it's not as useful as you might think.  I find it very hard to 
  92. write and send at the same time, to the extent that I rarely even try.  
  93. (No problem writing and receiving at the same time.)

  366. While studing for my license, I like to listen in on the conversations
  367. that go on. I also found out that Gordon West does a On-Air Code
  368. review and practice on Monday & Tues. 04:00 Zulu or 8:00 PM on
  369. 144.330 (Simplex)
  370.  
  371. What I would like to do is get a list of repeaters in So. California
  372. that I can tune into. And when I get my ticket talk on. Does
  373. anyone have a list or know where I could find one. Is there a repeater
  374. guide published.

  376. If you know of some repeaters in Southern California could you provide:

  378. (2 meter for right now)
  379.  
  380. 1) receive freq.
  381. 2) transmit/receive split 
  382. 3) subtone if any
  383.  
  384.  
  385. Once I'm able to transmit I want to be able to get on the air asap.
  386. I currently have a 2 meter hand held, but will be purchasing 
  387. a home based rig once I'm licensed. I'm going to try for the
  388. Technicion Plus (with code) when I test.

  506. Well, if I were really paranoid about the signal that I was
  507. putting into the local CATV lines and the power lines and the
  508. phone lines (presuming that you, like me, were foolish enough
  509. to sell a nice house in a reasonably quiet neighborhood with
  510. all electrical and phone services buried under the old earth
  511. and move to a main drag through a place where Ma and Pa Kettle
  512. Meet the Dukes of Hazard), I'd put a low power TVI/LPF between
  513. the transceiver and the kw amp and a high power TVI/LPF between
  514. the amp and the antuna tenner and then I'd just sit back and
  515. wait for the shotgun butts to start putting neat dents in your
  516. front door (or the side of your head, if the door is on cheap
  517. hinges, like mine). And then I'd join the QRP ARCI and the G-QRP
  518. Club and give up. Or go after a DXCC on Internet.

  617. Sorry, it's backwards, Scott.  Americans in Canada and Canadians in
  618. the US are supposed to put the identifies after their calls.  You
  619. should be IDing NF3I/VE3.  See the relevant reciprocal treaty, TIAS
  620. 2508, in the back of the FCC Rule Book (Appendix 4) or in the library
  621. if can find it there.  It's not the same as for other countries.

  623. As for using "N#" or "K#" as the identifier, it's not prohibited (that
  624. I can find).  Most people still use "W", though.

  626. Oh, and one more joker.  Reciprocal ops here and Americans in Canada
  627. are supposed to give their location by city/town and
  628. state/province/commonwealth/posession once per contact.
